EA is working with Omega Power, Glorious Tecmo Studio is responsible for the Warriors series – Samurai Warriors, Dynasty Warriors, etc. The developers are working on a new AAA IP set in a fantasy version of Feudal Japan.
EA is calling the project “the next great hunting game,” suggesting it’s a Monster Hunter-style action RPG, though the publisher hasn’t revealed any details. The good news is that, given the studios and publishers involved, more information may be shared at TGS later this month.
The only thing we got with the announcement today is a stately piece of concept art, though hopefully we’ll learn more soon as promised.
“The EA team fully embraces our creative independence and has been a valuable partner in providing development and release support. Combining EA’s global resources with our own will help us introduce a new type of hunting game to global players and expand Our influence reaches the global market,” said Yosuke Hayashi, Executive Vice President of Koei Tecmo.
“I’m really looking forward to the day when players from all over the world can play this new game.”
Omega Force actually has experience making hunting games. The studio is responsible for the Ghost Fighting franchise, which is similar in many ways to Monster Hunter.
