The war in Ukraine rages on and the victims are more numerous. In the crowd, video game players like this Metro developer.
A Remedy Entertainment developer has announced that a colleague of his who previously worked on Metro Exodus was killed in the fighting in Ukraine. Here is the said message:
In his post, he explains that 4A Games developer by the name of Andrii “Nizrok” Korzinkin was killed during a combat operation in Ukraine while fighting for the country’s independence. Apparently, Korzinkin worked as an animator at 4A Games and was responsible for most of the animations for the FPS Metro Exodus.
In his tribute post, Stepanov explains how heavily Korzinkin was influenced by the work of God of War creator Cory Barlog. He also praises his character and his desire to constantly improve to become a better developer with new skills. He also highlights his sense of humor and general good humor.
Korzinkin wasn’t the only game developer to take up arms in defense of Ukraine, but this sad news will undoubtedly mark the video game industry. We also remember the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World, which is developing Stalker 2 and has currently moved to RCzech Republic for the safety of their employees. The studio had also given news about a long explanatory video on the context of the country.
