Epic unpacks the expensive wrapping paper again: this week there’s a great Star Wars game for free. Namely Star Wars: Squadrons, the 2020 space flight game that puts your virtual butts in cool X-wings, Tie-fighters and the like.
How much time? The promotion runs from November 24th to December 1st, 2022 at 17:00. If you secure Star Wars: Squadrons during this time, you can keep it permanently. An Epic Games Store account is required.
As usual, we not only forward you to the free game, but also classify which type of player is looping for joy and who is more likely to pull back the throttle if bored.
That’s what Star Wars: Squadrons is all about
If you want to know what we think of the game, the best thing to do is watch our test video. For us it is clearly one of the highlights among the newer Star Wars games:

Star Wars: Squadrons – Space Action Test Video
In Star Wars: Squadrons you don’t fly aimlessly through a vacuum, but follow a thoroughly choreographed storyline and missions. And primarily for single players in the campaign.
On the one hand you shoot your way through swarms of imperial tie fighters in the X-Wing and turn off the turrets of star destroyers. And you’ll also get into the cockpits of the Empire to experience Star Wars from the Dark Side’s point of view as well.
On top of that, there’s a small multiplayer package: you can dogfight against teams of other players. Or you can engage in fleet battles to destroy the opposing team’s huge battleship.

This is how single player works!
Interesting for whom?
Even if you’re at home in big open-world space games, Star Wars: Squadrons doesn’t necessarily have to be to your liking. Unlike, for example, in the very freely designed Elite Dangerous, in Squadrons you play within clearly defined mission limits. You have to take a lot of action that guides you through the flashbulb space battles.
On the other hand, if you have a heart for it, you should definitely take a closer look at the new free game. If you also have a heart for Star Wars in your chest, even more so.
