It took long enough, now Ubisoft is finally coming out with a release date for the new The Settlers. In addition, the game has been given a fresh name and console versions.
It can be buzzed again! A reboot of one of the most popular German development strategy series has been in the works since 2018. The Settlers was originally slated for release in 2020, but was pushed back indefinitely due to poor fan feedback. Now Ubisoft has finally made a clean sweep and given the game a new date. As a bonus, the title has also been given a fresh name.

The Settlers: New Alliances will be released on February 17, 2023 for PC. So far so good. But the developers have even more news up their sleeves. Because the game is no longer a home computer exclusive, there are also various other versions in the making. Specifically, New Alliances should also come to PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and Amazon Luna. Exactly when is still up in the air.
The developers also talk about the new features that were installed based on the feedback. In general, the pace of the game has been adjusted so that the process is more fluid overall. With “Rush Protection” there is now a function for multiplayer games that is supposed to slow down too fast action. With neutral bandit camps, you can no longer simply overrun unsuspecting enemies, you must first defeat them before you can conquer an area.
The maps have been made more open overall, so you can use various shortcuts to get back to base quickly or to help allies. In general, Ubisoft has adjusted the handling of your army, it should now be possible to issue orders much more precisely.
In The Settlers: New Alliances you have the choice between three game modes: The campaign includes 13 missions, which should tell an exciting story. The extreme mode, on the other hand, is aimed at bustling professionals, here the AI is particularly strong thanks to various modifiers. In battle, you team up with other players or compete against them, up to eight participants per map are possible. There should be twelve maps at release.
