Horizon forbidden west‘s new DLC, Burning Shores, was announced at The Game Awards on Thursday night. In the trailer, Aloy flies over the sea on the back of a Sunwing – the wheeled, pterodactyl-like machine. She flies past Los Angeles landmarks that appear to be the Griffith Observatory and the Capitol Records Building before zooming past the instantly recognizable Hollywood sign, a teaser for something that can only take place in Los Angeles.
Burning Shores will be released on April 19, 2023 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Horizon forbidden west was released earlier this year. Although Aloy defeated the Hades Protocol in the first game, Horizon Zero Dawn, the sequel pits them against new, dangerous threats. in the Forbidden West, Aloy must find a way to prevent famine from sweeping the world – a journey that will take her along the beautiful west coast.
The best highlights of the massive open-world game, alongside action-packed machine combat, were exploring and rummaging through recognizable cities. Aloy restores power to Las Vegas’ neon lights – complete with futuristic holograms – and runs through the debris of post-climate San Francisco. You can swim underwater and see the famous Ferry Building which is completely submerged. A side quest even involves climbing a huge, leaning skyscraper (maybe the Millennium Tower
An expansion that allows Aloy to fight his way through Los Angeles would be welcome and appropriate to the theme. In the trailer we’ve only seen the Hollywood sign destroyed so far, but maybe Aloy will climb a palm tree, find an old In-N-Out burger, or help revive it Arclight Theater? (I can say these things because I live here.) Just a thought.
Horizon forbidden west is available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
