Naughty Dog doesn’t seem to be over yet last survivor Franchise, if a quote from Neil Druckmann is any guide.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about HBO’s The Last of Us series, the studio’s co-president said there are still “more stories to tell” in the series.
While this isn’t a confirmation of The Last of Us Part 3 or anything else, it sounds reassuring and complements Druckmann’s 2020 comment confirming that a synopsis has been written for a third game .
While the story will explore some of what happened after The Last of Us Part 2, Druckmann is quick to note that Part 3 is currently undeveloped, and the team is clear that it needs to stick to the inherent “structural and thematic themes” of Part 2.
Regarding Naughty Dog’s current work, Druckmann recently shared new concept art for the upcoming The Last of Us Multiplayer The game, which the studio promises will be a “new experience” rooted in its “passion for delivering incredible stories, characters, and gameplay.”
Fans of the franchise and those looking forward to a multiplayer release can look forward to an official reveal of the game later this year.
Vinit Agarwal, designer of The Last of Us Part 2, and Anthony Newman and Joe Pettinati, lead designers and creative directors at Naughty Dog, are responsible for The Last of Us multiplayer, respectively.
Druckmann also revealed that as of December 2022, the “Last of Us” series, which will turn its 10th anniversary in June, has sold more than 37 million copies worldwide.
