Former Playground Games director forms a new game development studio, calf games
Maverick’s founding team is led by Mike Brown, former Creative Director of Playground Games. Brown will retain his position at the new company and the title of studio head.
Joining Brown from Playground Games are Tom Butcher as executive producer, Matt Craven as chief technology officer, Gareth Harwood as content director, and Fraser Strachan as audio director.
Former Sumo Digital Lemington studio co-head Harinder Sangha joins as COO, Playground Games and Sharkmob London art director Ben Penrose, and former EA experience director Elly Marshall joins as UX/UI director.
“Our goal is to make Maverick Games a studio people love,” said Mike Brown. “For players, we’ve set out to make an exciting, ultra-high-quality game, and for developers, we’re building a game that encourages everyone to take risks, be curious, be creative, be creative, be their own. Homeland, and most importantly – be a maverick.”
Maverick has secured significant seed funding and is actively developing new games at their studio in Leamington Spa.
The team currently has 10 people and is actively recruiting for positions ranging from graduates to leadership across all disciplines.
