The PUBG developers want to create what Escape from Tarkov has long since achieved: one Make extraction shooters popular. Krafton is planning until the end of 2024 or beginning of 2025 Project BlackBudget
to release a representative of the genre that relies on Open World and PvPvE.
That goes from the publisher’s latest financial report from games like PUBG: Battlegrounds or The Callisto Protocol. Specific details about the project are currently still manageable, but we already have a rough idea:
- The planned game currently has the working title Project BlackBudget, the final release name is currently unknown.
- BlackBudget is currently scheduled for release between late 2024 and early 2025.
- PUBG: Studios, which most recently developed PUBG: Battlegrounds and PUBG: New States, are working on the project.
- A dynamic open world with fights against AI opponents and also human players is planned for Project BlackBudget – you want to be there

Krafton himself explicitly wants to get involved in the extraction shooter genre, which enjoys great popularity thanks to games like Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown. More and more studios are now fishing in the pond – for example Activision is currently trying to do it with its CoD Warzone 2 DMZ game mode. Recently, the new shooter Marauders, which is currently still in Early Access, attracted attention:

What else happens at PUBG
In mid-2022, PUBG received its biggest update to date, including a new map. Previously, the Battle Royale pioneer switched to a Free2Play model, which doubled the number of players, but also caused a lot of criticism. Originally, Krafton seemed to focus even more on expanding PUBG in the future. Rumors and alleged leaks about a SciFi and a Wild West spin-off have meanwhile been doing the rounds. So far, however, the reports do not seem to be true – or Krafton has overturned his plans.
