Also in the new year, the German games association game will honor the most successful titles in Germany with the coveted Sales Awards. At the start there was a comeback of current heavyweights in January.
Traditional blockbusters will rema in on the road to success in the new year 2023, as several titles that have already won awards have now secured further game Sales Awards from the German games association game. But at least something has changed: In order to make the graduation more structured, there will no longer be the special price for 500,000 sales, but instead double platinum for 400,000 sales and multi-platinum for 600,000 copies sold.
In both cases there were premieres in January. Three titles were able to secure the multi-platinum award, including the immensely successful FIFA 23 as well as the shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Nintendo Switch Sports. All three games broke the 600,000 sales mark in Germany.
The racing simulation Gran Turismo 7 on the PlayStation has cracked the double platinum award for 400,000 sales. The regular platinum award for 200,000 copies did not exist in January.
The finale is another gold award, because although the game fell short of Ubisoft’s high expectations, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope has already sold more than 100,000 copies in Germany. Congratulations to all winners!
