Endless Dungeon is expected for the month of May and is being developed by Amplitude Studios. But this one has bad news for gamers.
In October 2014, independent studio Amplitude released an excellent title that mixes tower defense and roguelite on PC. Given the success of this Dungeon of the Endless, Amplitude has decided to export it to other platforms. Today his reputation is so great that a spiritual sequel will see the light of day: Endless dungeon. Or rather “prepared”, given the latest information that has reached us.
We were so close to the goal…
This week, Amplitude Studios released a statement on their Twitter account. Unfortunately, this one is not meant to share a new nun, quite the opposite. We learn that the decision to postpone has been made Endless dungeon, but initially planned for May 18th. The studio’s goal is to balance its game between the different resources to be accumulated, both in terms of gameplay and in-game economy. Let’s hope that the result is there, because we now have to wait until October 19th!
With the May 18 release date fast approaching, we as a team are reflecting on the state of Endless Dungeon. We want to offer our community the best possible roguelite experience, and we believe there is still a long way to go to achieve this.
Because of this, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the launch to October 19, 2023. This gives us more time to integrate community feedback to make the game as great as possible. During this additional time we will be working on meta progression, balancing, game economy, and a bunch of refinements and bug fixes.
If we understand the studio’s desire to refine its game, we’re still concerned about a massive postponement decided so late. But that’s probably better than a broken game when it comes out, right?
Endless Dungeon, a very promising roguelite
While Dungeon of Infinity was an independent game, its sequel is much more ambitious. Much nicer, a priori longer… Above all, it can count on the financial support of Sega, its publisher. Endless Dungeon is once again playable alone or in co-op, and features multiple playable character classes that tempted us during our early April preview. We then realized that the title is particularly challenging and that if collaborating with bots is dangerous, the adventure becomes much more enjoyable when collaborating with other players. The builds also seem particularly numerous given all the unlockable upgrades throughout the game. Endless Dungeon even includes a fairly extensive lore, with reading on the program for the most curious. Finally, its genre mix between roguelite and tower defense makes the game attractive for a wide audience.
appointment May 18th October 19, 2023 on PC, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch!
