NetherRealm Studios and publisher WB Games have released an update to the official Page of Mortal Kombat 1 revealed story details of the main characters.
In the reboot, players will find themselves in a reborn Mortal Kombat universe created by the fire god Liu Kang. This creates new twists for the well-known characters and storylines that you can learn more about.
Liu Kang will face an enemy he “Never could have foreseen”; he will “need to use all his wisdom and experience to save not just Earthrealm but all of reality.”
Scorpion and Sub-Zero both belong to the Lin Kuei Clan, with Sub-Zero as Grand Master leading the Out of the Shadows Clan to “fight for his place as one of the great nations of Earthrealm”. His brother is a revered warrior, but Scorpion fears “one day having to fight his brother for control of the Lin Kuei.”
About Kitana, a princess from Outworld, it can be learned that as the younger of two twin sisters, her only purpose is to support and help Mileena, who is a few minutes older. Because Mileena is entitled to become the next empress of the realm. She, in turn, hides a dark secret, no one must know that she suffers from the deadly Tarkat disease.
Meanwhile, Kung Lao has left his life as a farmer behind and seeks honor as a warrior in the ranks of Liu Kang’s armed forces. Hailing from the same village as Kung Lao, Raiden valued his quiet life. He steps in as the champion of Earthrealm to save his there from the outside threats.
Mortal Kombat 1 will be released September 19th and is available for pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam/Epic Games). Those who pre-order will also get access to the Mortal Kombat 1 beta, which will be available in August 2023.
