As is well known, real-time strategy fans get a new genre representative with Warhammer: Age of Sigmar – Realms of Ruin. Thanks to an open beta test phase, you can now try it out yourself in advance.
Frontier has now made available an open beta testing phase of the upcoming real-time strategy game Warhammer: Age of Sigmar – Realms of Ruin. This is available for download on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC (via Steam), so you can get started on all three platforms.
The beta features 1v1 cross-platform multiplayer with two full factions: the Stormcast Eternals and the Orruk Kruleboyz. Important side note on consoles: No additional platform subscription in the form of PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold is required to participate in the trial period; however, you must sign up for one Frontier-Account to register.
The new title offers you a lot of classic real-time strategy fare in Warhammer guise: you fight for control of the map, call new troops onto the battlefield, collect resources and more. You can try this in online matches against other players as well as against AI bots.
A novelty is the new DirectStep control system, which should enable quick movement commands, instant switching between squads and flexible control of the battlefield with a controller on PC and console. Traditional RTS mouse and keyboard controls will also be available on PC and console.
The purpose of the Open Beta is to test the game’s servers and help the developers with faction balancing. It ends on July 10 at 00:59. A second open beta is planned for late summer this year, further details will be announced shortly.
