The World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery has been a great success on Blizzard’s part. Thousands of players have jumped into the classic version of the game (once again after Hardcore) to live the original experience… although with radical changes. The most notable: being able to combine classes to create mage-healers or rogue-tanks, for example.
This new chapter in World of Warcraft Classic It hasn’t had too many problems at launch, except for some queues and various class balancing. However, some players have been affected by one of the mode’s peculiar features: there are no Paladins in the Horde and no Shamans in the Alliance. And it is a problem because especially the first has been greatly benefited by the new class combination mechanics.
Players have missed Blizzard bringing the Paladin to the Horde and the Shaman to the Alliance, and Josh Greenfield, the game’s lead producer, has reported on Twitter (via Altertime) who have no plans to do so. He has justified his response, although some players did not like it.
I see this asked quite often, but let’s face reality: this is beyond the scope of the Season of Discovery. It’s not just “add a couple of class instructors” and tick some boxes in the game editor. This is a fairly extensive task, and we don’t have the resources to dedicate time to its development this season.
“Thank you for responding and for the constant corrections. Not all of them will be a success, but it’s good to see you try things to see if they help or not,” responds the user who originally asked. In short: Paladins of the Horde and Shamans of the Retail Alliance, we have to keep waiting in Classic.
