In an unexpected move, Supermassive Games’ 2015 narrative horror game Until Dawn is being remastered for modern devices. Revealed during tonight’s State of Play (January 31st), the interactive horror game will soon be coming to PC and PS5, rebuilt and enhanced.
For those unfamiliar with Until Dawn, the game is Supermassive Games’ first foray into interactive horror. Its success on PlayStation 4 soon spawned the popular The Dark Pictures Anthology and later its spiritual successor The Quarry. Whether you’re familiar with these games or not, they’re remarkable narrative experiences (for the most part).
They’ll get on your nerves and give you the creeps and Make you laugh, and if playing multiplayer, they might pit you against your own friends. Ultimately, I highly recommend them to horror fans, especially Until Dawn. After all, this is where it all started!
Until Dawn follows the plot of many horror movies before it; a group of teenagers travel to a cozy cabin in the woods, where they find themselves in danger from a masked murderer. As a result, the entire team must fight to survive while waiting for someone to rescue them from the creatures lurking in the woods. You, the player, will then make critical decisions that will determine whether these teens survive the night…or meet an unfortunate end.
Until Dawn has been remastered for PC and PS5, and if the game is to your liking, there’s no reason not to give it a try. I know I’ve been craving the perfect excuse to revisit it, so I’m hoping Until Dawn is as gripping a horror experience as it was back in 2015.
There’s no word yet on when the Until Dawn remake will be available, but if you want more good news about the IP, there happens to be an Until Dawn movie in the works.
