What does a Chinese comedy look like?
The story is set in a fantasy China and depicts the life of Xie Lian, a deity with no followers. Since there is no one to burn incense on his behalf, the god leads a peaceful life without doing much. But one fine day, He will meet a young man whom he wants to welcome into his home. This man’s name is Hua Cheng and he is none other than the Demon King, the most powerful demonic being in this world, whose mere mention of the name makes the gods shudder. The two characters, who have no idea of each other’s identities, will experience peaceful adventures together that will make the dark moments colder and more surprising.

A romance worth it?
The 24 episodes tell us a sweet, funny, but sometimes cruel and cold story. The deity’s past without followers catches up with them. Each mystery adds depth to the characters’ personalities and is already particularly touching and vivid. Answers are gradually, slowly but surely found to the many questions that the viewer asks at the beginning of the story.
The stories of our two protagonists are peppered with revelations, each more unexpected than the last. This anime presents an unexpected love story without falling into clichés.
