A great PS4/PS5 exclusive was just killed by Sony. It’s all over and for many players it’s the end of an era.
Time is never good for players. Every year, many games have their publishers and developers shut down all services. In general, these are obviously economic reasons, the maintenance of any online service involves costs, and when the games are too old or are literally abandoned by the vast majority of players, it’s time to say goodbye to them. But in the case of this PS4 and PS5 exclusive, the reason is completely different.
The PS4 and PS5 are losing a popular exclusive game
In January 2024, all online services for the PS4-exclusive Little Big Planet 3, which can obviously be played on PS5, were stopped due to a technical problem. Details are missing, but the fact is that the game’s online services can no longer be used, no option to download content, nothing.
We didn’t have any news for months, and unfortunately to date it’s not good at all. Little Big Planet isn’t coming back any time soon, especially not. The game is still in trouble and obviously nothing will be able to bring it back to life. Sony has just announced that its game has been taken offline for good and will not be returning. Therefore, all content created and saved online will be lost, use of online functions will no longer be possible and some trophies will therefore no longer be available.
However, offline play remains possible, as does creating levels and using them locally. The campaign will of course still be playable. But that’s it, otherwise it’s finally over.
There are many reactions online. Little Big Planet 3 remained a PS4 and PS5 game that was particularly appreciated by players and was still active before it encountered technical problems. For many of them, who are now orphans, an era is coming to an end. We’re still talking about almost ten years of content here, that’s not nothing. But Sackboy hasn’t said his last word yet, as the little character still appears in Sackboy A Big Adventure, available for PS4, PS5 and PC.
