There are many rumors surrounding the next version of the Sony console. Recently, the company launched the PS5 Slim, a very compact console made possible thanks to the evolution of technology. Now the rumors and information are focused on the PS5 Prowhich could come out this year, but for what price and with new order?
Nothing is confirmed, but rumors suggest that by the end of the year we will see the “advanced” version of the Sony console. It will possibly arrive in a period similar to the Slim, in mid-October, shortly before Black Friday (to release the “old ones”) and above all, before Christmas.
What do we know about the new console?
Officially, nothing. But in the technology industry, it’s very difficult to keep secrets or well, it’s not very interesting to keep them. Let’s be realistic, they give us clues so that we have the “hype” at the highest level and are aware of possible developments.
We know some glimpses of what at least the new console’s hardware will look like. Everything indicates that it will continue to have a semi-custom AMD processor. This processor would have 8 hearts of Zen Architecture 2the same as used in the Ryzen 3000. This architecture is manufactured using the 7nm process, but it is possible that the 6nm node (refined version of the 7nm node) will be used for the chips in this console or perhaps in other more advanced nodes.
Something is also said about the working frequency of this processor. The PS5 operates at a frequency of 3.5 GHz, which will be improved in this new chip. Rumors suggest that at the very least, the maximum frequency would be 3.85GHzalthough some believe it could reach 4.4 GHz.
The processor could also include NPU
Regarding the graphics card, it looks like there will be a big jump here. Rumors suggest he will join a architectural graphics RNDA 3which is the same one used in the AMD RX 7000. Apparently this would have a total of 56 calculation unitswhich means he would have a higher power than the RX 7700 XT. This would make sense, since it is said that the FPS amount would be increased by 45%.
There would be no news regarding storage, the same capacities would remain. Apparently, the console will retain the 16 GB of RAM, but in this case it will have a bandwidth of 576 GB/s. Remember that the “normal” PS5 has a memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s.
New order possible
We don’t know anything about this. It is possible that they will launch a new controller with the console, an advanced and/or improved version of the current DualSense. It could also be a superior version, imitating or responding to the Xbox Elite Series 2, a controller much more complete (and expensive) than the standard.
Okay, but what about the price?
The arrival of the PS5 Pro will cause a domino effect with the rest of the company’s consoles. Obviously, the “normal” PS5 would be abandoned and it is assumed that the Slim could drop to 400 dollars.
According to rumors, the PS5 Pro without a disc drive could cost around 500 dollars, which would make a lot of sense. The version with reader would cost between 550 and 600 dollars, being a little more expensive. The driveless version may be slightly less powerful than the drive version, resulting in an additional cost.
