The emulator ShadPS4 Being able to play PS4 games on PC has come a long way and apparently is about to allow PS4 games to be played on portable consoles based on the Windows operating system, as is the case with the ASUS ROG Ally. We have sometimes mentioned that the power of this portable console is practically that of a PS4, so the truth is that this is news that we have been waiting for a long time.
Now, two videos shared on YouTube by GeorgeMoralis show how version 0.1.1 of the emulator, which is still in development and that we unfortunately cannot download yet, can run titles like Dark Souls Remastered on an ASUS ROG Ally, although for now only some things work like the character creator or the game’s intro sequence. Overall, this is an incredible progress that suggests a very promising future because… can you imagine having a portable PS4? Well, if we continue like this, it will be possible very soon.
ASUS ROG Ally transformed into a portable PS4
The ShadPS4 emulator can make playing PS4 games anywhere, using a portable console like the ASUS ROG Ally. Earlier this week, MaliceSpeedwagon shared another video showing eight games running through this emulator on an ASUS ROG Ally in Turbo mode. While titles like Bloodborne won’t even boot, less demanding games like Undertale or Sonic Mania run just fine.
For many people this is a dream come true, and not only because this emulator would allow us to play PS4 games on PC, but because at the rate things are going, as we mentioned before, we can have an entire portable PS4 at the rate we are going, it also works without problems on portable consoles based on the Windows operating system, at least on the ASUS ROG Ally as you can see in the videos.
There has been a lot of talk lately about an official Sony portable console, since it seems that they have abandoned this market since the PS Vita. In fact, when Sony launched the PlayStation Portal, it was a big disappointment in the community, because we expected a portable console and it turned out to be just a tablet to play the PS5 … but when contacting the PS5, come on, it can’t work independently and it’s really just a tablet with an integrated controller to play streaming games, not a portable console as such.
In any case, the rumors continue their course and no one rules out at this point that Sony will end up launching a new portable console, although given the current state of the market with the rise of portable consoles, it is quite possible that they will arrive quite late. But hey, in the meantime we will closely follow the development of ShadPS4, which looks very good and seems to be the closest and most real option to having a portable PS4, even if it uses a portable console from another manufacturer as is the case.
