The Galaxy Ring is here; Well, it hasn’t arrived in Europe yet, but Samsung has already launched it in the first territories. It is the Korean company’s new bet in the world of wearables, and although it was originally thought that it would only be compatible with Samsung Galaxy devices, in reality can be used with any Android mobile.
However, although it is compatible with any Android, not all functions of the Galaxy Ring are available to users of mobile phones of other brands, some features are exclusive of the Samsung Galaxy.
These are the Galaxy Ring features that are only available for Samsung Galaxy phones
The Galaxy Ring is a smart ring whose purpose is to achieve constant measurements of the user’s health, physical activity and sleep in the least intrusive way possible. Once the ring is put on, the idea is to forget about it for the 7 days that its battery lasts. It has no screen, it does not inform us of notifications, it does its job without interrupting us.
Of course, the Galaxy Ring is not the first smart ring on the market, nor will it be the last. However, Samsung’s proposal includes some exclusive features linked to its artificial intelligence, Galaxy AI. And these features, as one might assume, will be exclusive to users who also have a Samsung Galaxy mobile.
The Galaxy Ring is compatible with any Android mobile with Android version 11 or higher, to use it you just need download the Galaxy Wear app
However, some features of the Galaxy Ring are exclusive to Samsung Galaxy devicesthat is, they c an only be used by smart ring users who also own a Samsung Galaxy mobile:
- New “Energy score” or energy score, an index that takes into account different health and physical activity factors to assign a score to the user.
- Galaxy AI-powered health recommendations
- The ability to control the mobile camera using gestures
- Find my ring
Otherwise, users of any other mobile phone can Use basic health and activity tracking featuressuch as: step counting, sleep detection and tracking, heart rate monitoring and automatic detection of exercise routines, among others.
The Galaxy Ring is available in the first countries at a price of 449 dollars, available in three colors. For now it is not for sale in Europebut we expect Samsung to expand its availability to more countries in the near future.
