Borderlands 3 introduced in 2019therefore, it is not expected that there will be an update for the looter shooter in 2024. Possibly due to the recent release of the (terrible) filmGearbox has released a new, small but really great patch for Borderlands 3.
2019 Borderlands 3 sold very well and received solid reviews, although fans sometimes considered it the worst entry in the main franchise. Personally, I liked the world hopping and FPS action of Borderlands 3although yes, the main villains aren’t very memorable and the last few hours of the game feel even more like a train wreck than those of other installments in the franchise, which are known for never sticking the landing. Still, I’d rather play Borderlands 3 than the newly released Borderland filmespecially after today’s surprising quality of life update.
On 8 August Gearbox has announced a new update for Borderlands 3. The update doesn’t add a big quest or a new area to explore, but it does add one very useful feature. You can now automatically sell loot based on its rarity. For example, you can set everything white and green to be automatically sold, and if you pick up a random, crappy white pistol, the game will sell it instead of letting it clutter up your inventory.
I’m currently playing Wonderlanders with my wife and I would kill a thousand Skaggs for an auto-sell feature. I hope Gearbox ports this feature to other older Borderland Games. At least this must be a feature in Borderlands 4 or whatever the next main game will be.
What else is in this Borderlands 3 update?
This update also gives players the ability to create a new max-level character right from the main menu. You’ll need to have completed the main game and reached max level with at least one character before this option is available. However, for people who want to go back and play endgame content, this is convenient and allows them to try out other characters without having to replay the entire adventure.
Finally, Gearbox has added an option for Steam Deck users to increase the text size in the game Borderlands 3 It’s not earth-shattering, but it’s nice to see.
The reason this update was released today is probably because Gearbox hopes (and expects) Borderlands 3 and possibly the other games in the series to see a surge in player numbers and sales after the release of the new film. We have seen something similar with The Last of Us And Stand out.
But with terrible reviews and bad word of mouthI’m not sure, Borderland The movie will help to increase brand awareness. Likewise, I don’t expect many people to return to Pandora the weekend after seeing the movie. But hey, I’ll gladly accept a quality-of-life update for a game I enjoy any day of the week, for any reason.
