Artificial intelligence has entered our digital lives like a steamroller and now the application or product that does not boast of it is rare. We have seen integrations in mobile phones, home automation systems, in medicine, security… And we have seen it too, and a lot in the photography sector, especially among mobile phone manufacturers. Of course, some of their proposals are not yet available in Europe.
In addition, a whole service industry has been created that allows us to take photos by enhancing them with AI or edit these photos using text commands. Even the giant Adobe has decidedly opted for this solution.
But every trend has a turning point during which products begin to appear that not only do not go in that direction, but position themselves as the antithesis of it. This is what brought up Zerocam, a photo capture application available for Android that boasts of take the photo directly from the sensor without applying any type of processing or artificial intelligence
This camera app boasts of do not perform any processing on the images neither with artificial intelligence nor with any other type of tools, such as HDR. The results are much flatter because they are also saved in RAW format, the ideal format for further processing photos.
The interface is extremely simplewith three main elements. There’s the camera shutter, which is curiously not round and has a striking yellow color. We also have changes for the zoom, being able to film at 1x or 2x and finally we have the photo counter available. The result it offers is more natural, without highlighted colors or with the highest saturation of the account.
Zerocam offers 5 free daily shotsbut if we want more we will have to subscribe to the application. This doesn’t make much sense because this is an application that literally requires no cloud processing services or constant changes. However, this limitation can be an advantage by limiting the number of shots and not taking photos mindlessly, allowing us to discern which photo we want to take, as was the case in the past with cameras analog.
The subscription price is 1.99 dollars per month or 10.99 dollars per yearin case we want to use this type of camera for all the images we take with our cell phone, a decision that, of course, will not suit all audiences.
