Believe it or not, this year marks the 30th anniversary of Earthbound, which was released on the SNES in 1994 under the name Mother 2 in Japan. There hasn’t been a new game in the series for a long time, but that doesn’t mean Nintendo and Hobonichi will ignore the game’s anniversary. In fact, there’s something in the pipeline that might interest you.
You see, it has been announced that Earthbound 30th anniversary merchandise is on the way. In Japan, Lawson and various other stores will offer goods for the Earth. Starting November 30th, Lawson stores will be launching a special Ichiban Kuji Lottery where you can win prizes related to Earthbound. Checking in at a Lawson store with GPS between November 25th and 29th will also get you a limited edition Mr. Saturn wallpaper. You can see the social media post breaking the news below, as well as a picture gallery of all the merchandise.
