The Coalition’s surprise: There will be a new expansion for Gears 5 shortly before Christmas this year. Some players will even be able to secure them at no additional cost!
The unexpected often happens: The Coalition has just announced a new expansion for the action hit Gears 5 – and it will even be out in a few days. Such positive news is of course welcome these days – and it gets even better: Selected players won’t even have to shell out money for it, but one after the other.
The expansion “Hivebusters” for Gears 5 should be available from December 15th. This focuses on the three characters Lahni, Keegan and Mac, whom you know from the escape mode of the action blockbuster. The add-on marks their first mission in the Hivebuster program. In an almost proverbial suicide mission, you have to destroy a swarm hiding place.
What exactly can you expect in terms of content? The Coalition promises a new 3-hour campaign on the volcanic Galangi Islands. For the first time, you will be able to use Ultimate skills in a story campaign. Furthermore, a co-op mode for up to 3 players in split screen or online is supported. And: There are optimizations for Xbox Series X / S, including reduced loading times, quick resumes, variable refresh rates and 4K HDR graphics (Xbox Series X). Last but not least, 16 new achievements with a total gamerscore of 210 will be added.
And who will get the extension for free now? All Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can get started right away at no additional cost. If you don’t have such a subscription, you have to shell out around 20 dollars for the add-on.
