Abstention is a legendary grenade launcher in Destiny 2 and part of the Vow of the Disciple raid weapon set.
This single-shot grenade launcher takes up your energy weapon slot, leaving you free to select any heavy weapon you please. Grenades emit a wave of damage when they explode, making it one of the best player versus environment (PVE) grenade launchers in the game.

How to Get Forbearance in Destiny 2
Forbearance is a Vow of the Disciple weapon and can initially only be acquired through this raid.
Different parts of raids have different loot pools. Forbearance is a possible (but not guaranteed) drop in The Caretaker encounter and final boss fight against Rhulk.
Also, keep in mind that Conquest Loot can be spent at the end of the Raid Chest to purchase any Raid Weapon you have previously acquired.
Forbearance is also craftable. You’ll need to acquire and finish mining the model for five of this grenade launcher, but when you do, you’ll be able to visit the Enclave and create a custom Abstain. The first weapon you pull from the end of the raid chest each week is a guaranteed Deepsight drop, making it an effective way to work towards crafting tolerance.

Forbearance god roll recommendation in Destiny 2
Abstention comes with the Original Souldrinker Trait. It has a powerful effect; hitting enemies before reloading heals you. More hits result in more healing. All enemies caught within the grenade’s blast radius contribute to this effect.
A perfect version, or ‘god roll’, understands that forbearance is designed to quickly melt down large groups of enemies. There is a specific group of perks that work very well to accomplish this task.

Normally we recommend Volatile Launch for an extra clearance grenade launcher, but Abstention already has the max blast radius. The increased speed of Quick Start will increase damage to targets you hit, and improved maneuverability improves readiness speed while making it easier to aim.
High speed towers Further increases direct damage and grants a boost to reload speed. As this is a single-shot grenade launcher, every fraction of a second you save on reloads will directly impact your ability to deal damage.
Ambitious Assassin overfills the magazine based on kills before reloading. It effectively adds a second grenade to your magazine, doubling your ability to deal damage to enemies. This, combined with the aforementioned reload speed increase from high-speed rounds, is a powerful combination.
The benefit that really makes forbearance work is Chain reaction. With this equipment, victims cause a blast of arcing energy. If those explosions kill an enemy, then another explosion, and so on. This makes large crowds something to expect, as the whole group erupts in explosive arcs.
As usual, once you have your favorite jet, be sure to upgrade it to a Masterwork to give it a stat boost, the ability to generate orbs on multiple kills, and add the option of a kill tracker!
