It’s a Spotlight Hour that Go Battle League fans have been waiting for, as Spheal’s final evolution, Walrein, is a force to be reckoned with in Pokémon Go. So if you’re still missing the Shiny Pokémon or the Perfect 4* Pokemon, this is your chance to try and find one, while grinding the Candy and Candy XL you’ll need to max out your Pokemon for competitive play.

Spheal 100% Perfect IV Stats in Pokemon Go
This week’s Spotlight Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Spheal with perfect IV stats.
“Perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the 100% Max IV build, which is the 15/15/15 you’re after for your 4* Pokédex, Raids, and Master League. Yet, due to the way CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokemon’s IV without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Spheal based on CP alone.
If you’re level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following PCs for a perfect 15/15/15 Spheal:
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above that level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of it. of simplicity. These values will however be different if you are currently below level 30.

Is Walrein good at PVP?
Yes very. While Walrein has fallen out of favor as one of Go Battle League’s most popular Pokemon, following a nerf during the Summer 2022 move rebalancing, it’s still incredibly good and better than the most gamers don’t seem to think so. This means that the responses to this big blubbery Pokémon may be fewer than what we’ve seen previously, giving you plenty of room to exploit this hole in the meta.
No matter your cup or league, this Pokémon runs Powder Snow, Icicle Spear and Earthquake as charged second move.
This combo proved to be incredibly effective, causing the nerf mentioned above. Both Ice-type attacks charge up quickly and are inexpensive to unleash, and Earthquake is a relatively cheap, yet powerful cover nuke. This leaves you with an incredibly spammy and flexible bulky Pokémon. It has no real downsides, and this cover gives you answers to Walrein’s Electric, Grass, and Rock type weaknesses. All that remains unanswered is combat, which tends to be low volume and high damage. You’ve got high volume and high damage, so what’s not to like?
Well, the problem is the multiple Community Day moves, which makes this Pokemon expensive to build in terms of elite TMs. The good news is that there was a Spheal Community Day in January 2022, and it’s now December 2022. Traditionally, there’s a special Community Day (or weekend) event that allows you to evolve any Community Day Pokemon from this calendar year. . Assuming this continues, you can evolve your Spheal into Walrein who knows both Icicle Spear and Powder Snow, making your life much easier. So if you catch a perfect Spheal for Go Battle League, be sure to wait to see if this event triggers!
That said, is Walrein worth it? Let’s take a look, league by league.
Although Walrein is no longer the best Morse in the Great League, he is comfortably in the top five, picking up victories against Altaria, Galarian Stunfisk, Sableye, Trevenant and Swampert. He loses pretty hard to Scrafty, Medicham, Skarmory, Umbreon, and Bastiodon, putting him high up in the meta. If you fancy a perfect Great League Walreinyou want a 0/12/15 at level 21.
Shadow Walrein, meanwhile, is still one of the top two ice-types in the Ultra League, thanks to his win over Nidoqueen, Trevenant, Giratina and Swampert – all of whom make it to our list of Ultra recommendations. League. However, he loses against Scrafty (again), Cresellia, Obstagoon, Talonflame and (mostly) Shadow Swampert. If you think this is part of a cool build, a perfect Ultra League Walrein is a 00/15/15 at level 39.5. The regular version will also work, but it won’t win as many matches.
Going into the world of the Master League, Walrein is respectable. It’s not in the top five ice types, but it will resist all non-steel type dragons, as well as Excadrill and Groudon, but it will lose to Zacian, Mewtwo, Lugia, and even Gyarados.

The shiny form of Spheal was released in December 2021. If you catch one, you can transform it into a shiny Walrein; however, you will need 125 Spheal Candy to do so.
If luck is on your side, you may find a Shiny Spheal in the wild, but be aware that this is not a community day and shine rates are not increased, so the chances of it catching one, let alone a perfect one, are very low. . As you can see, shiny Spheal follows the tradition of blue fading to purple. Its evolutions, Sealeo and Walrein, do the same, with the latter taking on a darker purple, as expected. All in all, a pretty cool set of shiners!
