Announcement of the Cinematic Adventure Game Trek for Yomi

Adventure, announcement, cinematic, game, Trek, Yomi

Believe it or not, we love old Japanese samurai movies. These black and white masterpieces of cinema are absolutely breathtaking to this day. The landscapes, the battle scenes and of course the stories themselves – there is nothing like it. When we decided to take inspiration from these iconic films for our latest project, we couldn’t help but get dizzy inside.

Trek to Yomi

We are proud to present to you what we have been working on for months, Trek to Yomi. We hope you are as excited to see as we are showing you!

Trek to Yomi

in the Trek to Yomi, you are a young warrior named Hiroki. Before your dying master died, you made a promise to him – to protect the city and the people you love from all threats. Unfortunately, fate had a different plan and tragedy struck your village. Bound by the promise you made, you will go on a journey beyond life and death to confront those who have wronged you. The road is paved before you can take many turns – will you choose to keep your vows or follow the path of vengeance?

Trek to Yomi

We wanted to recreate the atmosphere of 19th century Japan at every step and place you visit. Trek to Yomi takes place in the 1850s, during the Edo Dynasty. All of the dialogues you hear are from that period in Japanese. We have a historical advisor on board who specializes in the Japanese language of the 18th century and who helped us bring the Edo period to life as faithfully as possible.

Trek to Yomi

Struggle is a big part of Trek to Yomi and we paid special attention to how the characters move and react to make the experience feel authentic. You will learn to wield the traditional samurai katana with deadly dexterity, alongside other historical weapons such as the ranged bow, ozutsu, and bo-shurikens. Thanks to our combat actors, the fight is as graceful as the environment itself. We also have the great team at Emperia Sounds (resident Evil, Devil May Cry) who work with a music director and historian with a 12th century samurai legacy. The team ensures that our soundtrack has authenticity in the sound and allows the players to immerse themselves even further in feudal Japan.

We hope that what you saw has fascinated you. We reveal more about Trek to Yomi in the coming months so stay tuned! We can’t wait to bring the game to players around the world, and thank you for spending some time with us.
