Perfect bomb for this hot Sunday, we learned this afternoon, through a designer from Toys For Bob, that the development of Crash Bandicoot 5 was cancelled. Apparently this project was cancelled before Microsoft completed its purchase of Activision.
Thanks to social networks, has explained some details about the projects they had in development, Toys For Bob and the years they worked on it, Crash Bandicoot 5. It is unclear if Microsoft had anything to say about this specific development, since as you know, shortly after the Activision purchase, Toys For Bob was released as an independent studio, leaving a deal for a development that would launch on Xbox.
Crash Bandicoot 5 will not exist
The studio, with the independence of Activision, could no longer have the Crash brand, currently owned by Microsoft after the acquisition of Activision itself. Once separated from the two companies, Toys For Bob had complete freedom to decide which projects to pursue, such as the development of a new one, Spyro.
GOOD. Our project that was cancelled for the last 3 years is officially dead as of today (internal attempts to save it failed) and the embargo on all portfolio work has been lifted.
RIP Dragon Project. Get ready for the biggest art bomb ever that I loved.
This project, although it would be called by its code name, Dragon, had nothing to do with Spyro, it was the new Crash:
Oh fuck, sorry guys, it’s not Spyro. I didn’t mean to give the fandom a heart attack. “Dragon” is our codename for the brand new IP we’ve been developing for over 3 years. But I’m pretty sure if you’ve ever liked anything I’ve done, you would have *loved* this one.
