According to a ROBLOX representative, creators made a total of over $500 million in Robux through the platform in 2021.
A ROBLOX representative announced that developers and creators made more than $500 million using the ROBLOX platform in 2021.
That number represents a 52 percent increase from last year, when the company recorded $329 million in developer exchange fees.
Over the past three years, ROBLOX’s developer exchange fees have accounted for between 22 and 36 percent of the company’s total revenue.
Developer exchange fees reflect the compensation users receive in Robux, the platform’s currency. Robux can be used to purchase items on the ROBLOX platform or cashed out for real currency.
A 2020 released Report by People Make Games however, concludes that ROBLOX is attempting to discourage its users from withdrawing through minimum withdrawal thresholds and unfavorable exchange rates.
In order to be able to withdraw, at least 100,000 Robux are required, which corresponds to the equivalent of 1,000 US dollars. Given the platform’s conversion rate, such a payout from Robux would only bring the creator a mere $350 in total.
