It’s nothing new, in the past Microsoft has already given away money to spend in the Xbox Store to random users. Typically, they usually do this with gift cards, which are nothing more than cards with an in-store balance to spend on products. The common factor is that you do this when you have some sort of strong bidding plan in place.
And with spring and seasonal sales already underway, it makes sense to entice gamers with gift cards to start spending and buying games.
Between 5 and 8 dollars in Xbox Gift Cards
And that’s exactly what is happening today, some users are reporting that they have received an Xbox Live message with a balance between 5 and 8 dollars (conversion to a pound). At first it looked like it was only reaching the UK user, but there are reports that these messages also to the rest of Europe
Clearly this is a bid promotion move. Ease of use is as simple as clicking the link attached to this email with your active Xbox account and they will be added to your balance.
