Elden Ring is another global achievement by From Software. Almost unanimously, critics voted it one of the best games of recent years, and it’s in all likelihood the favorite contender to win the coveted Game of the Year award. Even the sales are on par with this success, with only 8 million copies sold in the first week. Perhaps the greatest architect of this achievement is Hidetaka Miyazaki, father of the Souls saga, head of From Software and, of course, head of Elden Ring.
And it was precisely Miyazaki who spoke in an interview for Xbox Wire Japan, where he celebrated, the massive success of Elden Ring, for which he considers himself “happy and surprised by him”. But fans of the title have come to know something else, which is Miyazaki’s favorite boss, which he put more emphasis on and left to him above the rest: the dreaded Starbane, Radahn.
Bosses came first, Elden Ring map second
Miyazaki comments that he is fascinated by the story behind Radahn and the festival surrounding their confrontation
But a big part of Elden Ring’s success isn’t just being one of the most complete souls around, it’s its amazing open world, which Miyazaki says was designed to fit the main bosses. . And what’s more, these Bosses in turn adjusted their attacks to the final design of the cartography where they were contained, being one of the axes of the game. Finally, Miyazaki says that he did not use direct references from other open world titles, but one could say that having played great titles such as The Witcher 3, Elder Scrolls or, to a large extent, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, partially influenced the creation of ‘Elden Ring.
