Every month the Xbox Game Pass continues to grow in popularity and along with this growth has been compared to another subscription service like Netflix. Both services have similar features, to the extent that the Xbox Game Pass has been registered by many as, "Netflix for video games."
It is clear that Phil Spencer does not stay away from this kind of debate and he explained exactly what the big difference is between Netflix and Xbox Game Pass. Both services have some similarities, but as is also the case with many differences as explained by Phil Spencer in the media, USGAMER
Xbox Game Pass vs Netflix
I love the fact that games are for sale and that people can buy them. We have no plans, no series of slides are written, hey, we want to turn everyone into subscribers, nobody has to buy games. That's why when people use the phrase "Netflix for games" it bothers me, because Netflix doesn't sell Netflix content. For us, people who buy sports are a healthy part of the industry. If there are other games that cannot be purchased and you want to access them by signing up, we see this as an important part of the Xbox Game Pass.
Phil Spencer is clear, it's "frustrating" that the Xbox Game Pass is compared to Netflix, because the head of the Xbox division is completely different options and that ultimately the Xbox Game Pass wants to offer something different and not force anyone to subscribe.
What difference do you see between the two subscriptions?
