On August 14, SEGA announced that it had been 35 years since the release of the Genesis (Mega Drive) console.
How quickly time flies, doesn’t it? Some of you may even remember the release of the Sega Genesis, known in Europe as the Sega Mega Drive.
The 16-bit console is now 35 years old, which SEGA announced on its X-Account To celebrate this day, the old advertisement for the console was also released.
In 1988, the Sega Mega Drive was a direct competitor to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and replaced the Sega Master System, which was still an 8-bit video console. The console was not released in Europe until November 30, 1990.
Whether it was Sonic, Mega Man or Tetris, there was something for everyone among the more than 900 games that the system supported.
