Have I ever fantasized about being astronaut, travel interstellar, spaceships and distant stars. I think it’s something that crossed our minds at some point in life or in our childhood. However, then I stop and think… “too dangerous”. Space, this place so big, desolate, unexplored and (thanks to the movies) full of dangers where in the end only one of the crew survives, is not for me. But I think at the very least courageous, but wanting to contribute to space exploration there is a gap. And that’s where it comes in Rover Mechanic Simulator, It’s because? I tell you about it below.
Our little haven of peace.
At Rover Mechanic Simulator We will be a space rover repair engineer for exploration. From the security of our bigger on Mars, we will be responsible for repairing and tweaking any rovers that come our way. In the workshop we have several tools, a crane to lower the rovers and put them on the worktable, an assembly table, a workbench for small parts, a 3D printer and even a machine to repair electrical circuits. .
The truth is that the workshop is very well recreated, it has everything you need “mechanical“would need. Even a radio with the best music stations of all March. In a corner of the bigger
Puzzles and exploration from a workshop.
Rover Mechanic Simulator surprise, its title suggests that we are going to have a complicated and convoluted experience. But after a while with the tutorial, we can take control of the workshop without too many complications. The dynamics are simple, we take the job of a broken rover. We move it to the table with the raw crane repeatedly failing, a touch of realism that remained. Once at the table, we will devote ourselves to disarm
If the part is broken, it is fixed, but this situation will not happen very much. Because as we place orders, we will have many resources that we will accumulate quickly. Using the 3D printer we can create a new part instead of repairing. The repair or maintenance orders that we will accept present different types of difficulties. These will be paid according to their complexity. As we accumulate repairs, we will accumulate improvement points that we can spend in the skill tree. The 3 options we have are Technical
Even on Mars, we are bored.
Despite this tree of talents which gives it depth, the game is very flat. The workshop is always the same, you cannot improve or acquire anything new. In the end, the commands become monotonous and redundant. At the end of 3 or 4 hours of play, the magic which catches you in the first place is lost and one ends up losing interest little by little because of the repetition. The only thing that distracts us from the monotony is the pc console with Linux that allows us to install games arcades. But that is not the purpose of a simulator of this type.
The section ring The game performs its function, the problem lies with the background music. As we said, we have a radio in which to choose the type of music. But after a while of listening to a station, the music repeats itself too often. We lack a random alternative that goes from one station to another. Graphically nor is it an omen. Due to the limited space to use, they could have done a better job in the environment. A window in the workshop to see the outside and feel more like being in a Martian colony would have helped. The setting Beyond the entrance to the studio it is very poor and when we play for a while there is nothing that gives us the impression of being on Mars. It would have been nice if, after being absorbed in dismantling a rover, we would lift our heads and see ships landing or a Martian blizzard.
A title that sells more than there is.
As we said Rover Mechanic Simulatorr is not a bad simulator, perhaps too flat in terms of content and depth. Without being able to choose difficulty It can be done very simple and repetitive for people expert in simulators of this type or very difficult for others. Camera control is complicated, it’s hard to get hold of it, it could be more intuitive. As we said in the sound section, it doesn’t stand out either. But nevertheless it is a game from which you can squeeze a few hours of play if you have the necessary patience. The tree of Talent gives it a little more depth which comes in handy. In addition, having only 4 different rovers to repair means that the surprise of the orders diminishes our enthusiasm. However, we can say that it took a few good and fun hours before it became a “loop”.
