In an interview, Shuhei Yoshida revealed that he was forced by Jim Ryan to lead the Independent Developer Initiative's initiative.
Last November, Shuhei Yoshida announced his farewell to Sony after more than 30 years.
The former President of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, who recently headed the Independent Developer Initiative of her, spoke about his career and looked back at PlayStation.
The change did not happen voluntarily. Yoshida was given the choice by Jim Ryan to take over the new position for indie games or to leave the company.
When asked about personal challenges, Yoshida replied to have to hand over the largest developers to others and to concentrate on the little ones.
“Switch from first party to Indies? Well, I had no choice. When Jim asked me to take over the indie job, I was faced with the choice of doing it or leaving the company. But I was very impressed by the situation of Playstation and the indie games. I really wanted to do that. I believed that I could do something unique for this purpose. For me personally, that was the greater change than leaving the company this year, namely the change of first party titles to Indies. “
