If recent announcements surrounding the highlights of the year are leaning toward hybrid models, that won’t be the case for QuakeCon. In fact, Bethesda announced earlier today that its special convention will be held in digital format only. The previous edition, which managed to go face-to-face in Dallas, Texas, will not be able to repeat the feat. The publisher shared the news via his own Twitter account:
This year’s QuakeCon will again be an all-digital event from August 18-20, 2022. pic.twitter.com/UxJTuZDTYJ

As can be read on the attached picture, the organizers are just as disappointed as the fans at not being able to help themselves. At the time of the decision, the information available did not allow for any other conclusion. However, the advanced goal is clear: to reintroduce a face-to-face format for the 2023 edition. As such, we will be watching QuakeCon remotely on its stream from August 18-20.
