Metal Gear is undoubtedly one of the most influential sagas in history. A franchise that marked a before and after and left us with great games along the way. A path in which it has accumulated a legion of fans who demand new installments, since there are very few games available today on next-gen consoles.
However, this has not weighed down a saga which, as Konami has just reported, has already sold more than 59 million copies.
Metal Gear continues to break sales records
The exact data, how can we see in the Japanese company websiteIt is 59.5 million copies since the release of the original Metal Gear game in 1987. Some of the games that have increased franchise sales the most are titles such as Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Health, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The reason is that these are the only titles available today that can be obtained on any platform in digital format.
Thus, beloved titles such as the fourth installment of the saga are not available on any current platform. Another example would be the second and third installments of the franchise, which can currently only be enjoyed through Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on Xbox Series X and Xbox One.

At the moment, no new games are announced in the franchise, although this is something that could change soon. We’ve been hearing rumors of a Metal Gear Solid 3 remaster/remake for a long time, and Platinum Games recently announced a special event to mark the 10th anniversary of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. And, although there is still nothing official, many are beginning to speculate on the possibility of announcing a new version of this spin-off of the saga starring Riden.
