Top Gun Maverick The sequel to the Top Gun saga that propelled Tom Cruise to stardom hits theaters Friday, May 27. Accompanying the release of this long-awaited film, Asobo Studio has released in collaboration with Top Gun Maverick an extension for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
This extension adds flight challenges, an experimental aircraft and a skin for the Boeing F/A-18 inspired by the sequel. The extension was announced a few months ago. On the last night of the 25th, Xbox released a trailer announcing that starting today it will be available to all users.
Top Gun Maverick: The ultimate experience
While not as big of a content expansion as Global Updates, they do bring enough content to have a good time. The highlighted part of this DLC are the new flight challenges. These challenges are divided into two groups. The first is the challenges themselves. In them we will have to perform a series of low-altitude flights. Depending on the average altitude we maintain in each section and how quickly we complete it, we will get a higher or lower score.
In addition, within this group of challenges are the toughest challenges. As is the aircraft carrier landing with the F/A-18 and the stratospheric flight we made with the experimental aircraft Black Star. And yes, these are really tough challenges; in my case I needed nearly 20 attempts to successfully land on the aircraft carrier. To land the Black Star on the third I land. Visibility on this ship is next to zero, so you land pretty much blind. It should also be mentioned that It is a device capable of flying at speeds very close to 10 times the speed of sound.
The second part of the challenges included in this new extension are a series of maneuver missions to be performed with the F/A-18. Where we will be instructed in flight maneuvers used by real fighter pilots. From afterburner take-offs to dive maneuvers.
A fully recommended experience
Despite being a complete amateur on the air, I must say that these challenges are completely enjoyable and recommended for all users
