Valorant: Meet your new agent Tejo

Summary

  • Welcome our newest agent Tejo, who joins our squad from Colombia.
  • As part of the Initiator class, Tejo specializes in flushing out enemies with a unique kit consisting of information gathering, explosions, and a concussion.
  • Anyone who has a strategic feel for the game and understands how the opponent plays will be able to be successful with this agent.
  • Tejo, like everyone else Appreciation agents, is Unlocked for everyone with a Game Pass membership.

“That should be easy enough. I rinse them out. You end it.” This statement from Tejo perfectly sums up our newest Initiator-class agent, the well-dressed man of action.

Hailing from Colombia, Tejo will undoubtedly shake up gameplay with his unique loadout that takes out enemies using a top-down approach. Tejo requires you to think proactively and strategically – analyzing the situation in the middle of the round and using his skills to clear the way for your team.

Tejo's abilities, which involve spooking enemies, have three outcomes: information gathering, damage, and concussion effects:

  • Stealth drone: Throw and own a stealth drone that, when activated, produces a small sonar pulse at its location.
  • Guided volley: Bring up a map to aim one or more missiles at a location. Once the missiles reach their location, they explode twice, knocking enemies out of the angle.
  • Special delivery: Throw a grenade that will ricochet once (immediately stick to the players), get stuck, then coil up and explode. Explosion shocked.
  • Armageddon: Throw a wave of explosions that force your opponents to move in your chosen direction.

The perfect teammates for Tejo will be those who can quickly exploit the space he creates. Let's take a closer look at how to do this.

Stealth drone

Whether your team is attacking and trying to take a location or defending and playing a recapture, using a drone can be extremely effective. Especially on maps where there are a lot of corners to clear, it allows your team to safely take space or be prepared to fight for that space. Because drones are great tools, the enemy team is often willing to shoot down whatever you use to gain space. Tejo's stealth drone is unique in that it is invisible at long distances, giving you more time to gather information about where the enemy team might be.

“Drones usually provide a lot of core value in gathering information, but we wanted to give this drone a little twist where the information is secondary and the effect of suppressing an enemy is the reason you choose this drone over others,” said Game Designer Ryan Cousart tells us.

When we asked the developers, “Why rockets?”, Cousart smiles and says, “Because rockets are cute.”

Aside from rockets being cute, they also made thematic sense for what the developers were trying to achieve.

“When you start equipping agents with things like a map aimer or world placements, you force people to think more proactively and strategically about the game. We wanted something that would guide your team and show you the impact of telling your team, “Hey, something's going to happen.” “We could have used anything, but these are the reasons we landed on rockets,” adds Cousart.

Tejo's abilities, which involve spooking enemies, have three outcomes: information gathering, damage, and concussion effects. “There is a lot to consider and consider when deciding the output of a capability. Damage as a result is much more permanent than a concussion or lightning. However, it's worth exploring and I think we've landed in a pretty good place, but we'll have to keep a very close eye on it,” says Cousart.

Special delivery

“Given the naturalness of his other skills, Tejo really needed something that was easy to understand and use, but still captured the feeling of being explosive yet purposeful. “I wanted Special Delivery to be a quick ‘let’s fight’ button,” explains Cousart.

Unlike the other abilities where Tejo needs time to prepare the move, Special Delivery allows him to quickly initiate combat at the right moment. Regardless of whether an enemy is there for the concussion or not, using this skill will give them the confidence they need to take that space. One thing is for sure – even if players can use the ability quickly, we won't be surprised to see players creating outlandish lineups to get the perfect angle to land on the perfect circle.

Armageddon

“Tejo's rockets are only really valuable if you follow the pressure that is created. But the sweet spot is when you fire your missiles and force people to move, and then while they're moving you can capitalize on the fact that they have to reposition themselves. “Tejo would work great with another agent who can move very quickly, like Neon, who can capitalize on the distance from which he develops his abilities,” notes character producer John Goscicki.

Tejo's ult, Armageddon, is something enemies need to be aware of at all times. Watch the scoreboard and check how many ult points he is away from using it, as this can greatly affect the outcome of a round. The blast wave will force the enemies to move in a direction chosen by Tejo, or at least make the players retreat further as the location will be difficult to hold. This gives his team the perfect opportunity to follow up and take control of the space they just created.

Anyone can play Tejo, but those with a strategic feel can really make this new agent shine. All Appreciation's Agents are unlocked for Game Pass membersso rise to the challenge and learn to use it to your advantage before anyone else.

In the words of Tejo: “We can stand around all day and talk about killing them…or we can just do it.” What are you waiting for?
