At Xbox, we’ve done some new third-party research highlighting the valuable role Xbox Game Pass is playing in helping gamers in Europe stay connected. The study itself is based on a sample of 14,000 gamers across Europe and offers a deeper insight into how gamers view and use subscription services and in particular the Xbox Game Pass for their entertainment. In particular, it highlights that Xbox Game Pass members are more likely to interact with friends and family through regular gaming, compared to non-members.
Based on the responses to the survey, around half (53%) of gamers in Europe play online multiplayer games at least once a week. In the meantime, we’ve seen from our own data that having a shared library of games on different devices is especially special for our members. If we look at this as part of research, that number goes up for Xbox Game Pass members. According to this study, Xbox Game Pass members are more social and engage in different types of games overall. They play online multiplayer games significantly more often (17% more likely) and online games with both families (19% more likely). and friends (18% more likely).
We believe that games have a unique power to bring people together and it is amazing to see how Xbox Game Pass plays a valuable role for so many people across Europe who use games to keep in touch with friends and family on a regular basis to step.
We built Xbox Game Pass from the ground up based on feedback from members and the community. The research builds on what we hear directly. They told us that they want a curated collection of great games, more options for how they play, and tremendous value. Based on recent research, we found that some of the top reasons European gamers sign up for a new service like Xbox Game Pass are because of access to a wide variety of content (59%), ease of setup (55%), and instant access are about new content upon publication (55%).
Xbox Game Pass gives members access to over 100 games so you can download and play them instantly. Easy access is something we hear a lot about and that’s why we’ve focused on bringing Xbox Game Pass to the devices you want to play on, whether it’s console, PC or Android mobile devices via cloud Gaming (Beta) is about. After all, there’s always something new to play when we release Xbox Game Studios titles with Xbox Game Pass on the first day of their release. Plus, the library is constantly being updated with new games, including AAA games, additions from Bethesda Softworks games (new to the Xbox family), and incredible ID @ Xbox games.
This research has been fascinating for me to see how gamers in Europe use and view subscription services. And personally, it inspires me to see how Xbox Game Pass plays a valuable role for so many people across Europe who use games to connect with family and friends. I can’t wait for more people to experience Xbox Game Pass for themselves and see how gamers use this service to connect in the future too.
