Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation)
- sound technology: AirPods Pro 2 and Beats Fit Pro have active noise cancellation, ambient sound mode and spatial audio with dynamic head tracking. They have the key features usually sought after in this type of product (spatial audio is interesting in Apple Music or consumes content from Apple TV+ or Netflix, for example). However, active noise cancellation is more powerful in the 2nd generation AirPods Pro, something to consider if you’re looking for the best possible isolation.
- connectivity: Both proposals have quick setup and pairing with Apple devices thanks to the H1 (Beats Fit Pro) and H2 (AirPods Pro 2) chips. The H2 chip is responsible for improving noise cancellation, adaptive transparency mode and superior battery life. But these AirPods also have the U1 chip in the charging case, allowing users to locate them if lost through the research network. The Bluetooth version is also better on the AirPods Pro 2, being 5.3 instead of 5.0 as it is with the Beats.
- controls: Beats Fit Pro incorporates a multifunction button on each earbud to control music, calls and voice assistant (although they also work with “Hey Siri”). The button can also be configured to increase or decrease the volume, as well as switch between different sound modes. AirPods Pro 2nd Generation Control are gesture-based and feature a new touch surface where you can increase and decrease the volume with the swipe of your finger.
- Autonomy: The Beats Fit Pro headphones promise up to six hours of battery life per charge with active noise cancellation enabled and up to 18 hours with the USB-C charging case. The AirPods Pro 2 have improved their autonomy compared to the previous generation and they’re also capable of up to six hours of audio playback on a single charge, though that drops to around 5.5 hours with Spatial Audio with active dynamic head tracking. With the case you get up to 30 hours and you can recharge it by Lightning or MagSafe.

AirPods Pro 2 VS Beats Fit Pro, which wireless Bluetooth headphones to buy?
The Beats Fit Pro and AirPods Pro 2 are pretty similar wireless Bluetooth headphones, but there are a few differences and use cases to be aware of.
- If you are looking for sports Bluetooth earphones: The Beats Fit Pro have a fairly ergonomic design built for sports and rated IPX4, but the AirPods Pro 2022 don’t move from the ears when put on and have the same resistance to sweat and water. If you’re going to use them in the gym, the Pro’s active noise cancellation is more isolating.
- If you are looking for the greatest autonomy: Apple promises up to 30 hours of use with the charging case on the 2nd generation AirPods Pro and approximately 5.5-6 hours of battery life per charge. The Beats Fit Pro also offers up to six hours, but with its case it stays at 18 hours.
- If you are looking for the best active noise cancellation: Noise cancellation on both headphones is good, but on the AirPods Pro 2 it’s better, and while the difference isn’t huge, it’s noticeable.
- If you are afraid of losing them: The 2nd generation AirPods Pro are integrated into the Find My network and can more accurately attempt to locate themselves from the iPhone in the event of loss thanks to the fact that the shell integrates the U1 chip (but a compatible iPhone is required). The Beats Fit Pro also integrates with search, but does not offer pinpoint search.
