For Apple fans, June is a very exciting month. That’s when what might be a boring developer conference turns into a great opportunity to showcase the new features coming later this year.
More specifically, Apple is focusing on the new operating systems of the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. Often the month of June is also a good time to show some products from Equipment New.
At last year’s WWDC, the company announced that it was beginning to transition from Intel processors to Apple processors. The transition has already started and we have found the M1 chip in MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac.
Now, let’s get started: what will Apple present in June?
All the hardware Apple will announce in June
We know WWDC 2021 will feature news from the Software Apple (we’ll see in more detail below), but we know what interests you most is what could be announced in the department of Equipment.
MacBook Pro 14 “
Apple only updated two models in the 13-inch MacBook Pro line in November 2020. Now the 2.0 GHz MacBook Pro could get Apple’s processor and also change its design with a 14-inch display.
MacBook Pro 16 “
Along with the smaller MacBook Pro, the 16 “MacBook Pro might also be coming. It was last updated in November 2019, so it’s time for business users to get an updated version.
It is highly likely that Apple uses an even more powerful processor and offers more graphics cores than the MacBook Pro 14 “. Will you surprise us with this news in the next edition of the WWDC?
Mac mini
Apple updated the Mac mini in November 2020 with a price cut and the addition of the incredible M1 in two of its models. The third, more expensive model has sold out and has not been updated since 2018.
It looks like Apple is now giving it some attention and could incorporate the M1X chip that we also expect to see in the 14 “and 16” macBook Pros. It would not be surprising if the company decides to introduce all three new models at the same time.
iMac the 32 “
Apple recently updated its tiny iMac with new colors, a bigger screen, an improved FaceTime camera, and the addition of the M1 chip. Now it’s the turn of the largest iMac model.
The 27 “iMac will probably have a larger screen (maybe 30 or 32 inches). It could also introduce new colors, although not the same tone as the iMac 24” (probably more sober).
Mac Pro
We don’t think Apple will showcase a new Mac Pro at WWDC, but this event might help explain what they plan to do with it. This is especially interesting after the iMac Pro discontinued earlier in the year.
AirPods
A few weeks ago, Apple announced the new high quality audio feature for Apple Music, but it is not compatible with AirPods. Thus, it is likely that the company will present a new model that will be at WWDC.
All the software Apple will announce in June
The WWDC will kick off on June 7 and, like every year, the company will devote an hour or two to present the novelties that will arrive at the end of the year at Software
iOS 15
One of the great advantages of having an iPhone is that every year in the fall you have new features with the arrival of the latest iOS update. We see the news first at WWDC and this year it will be like that too.
iOS 15 will offer new features as well as small interface changes that should improve the user experience.
iPad 15
The iPadOS generally incorporates the same features as the iOS, but with a few specific modifications designed for the iPad. We expect that with iPadOS 15, the iPad will come closer and closer to the Mac in terms of performance, especially since the iPad Pro already uses the M1.
macOS 12
With macOS 11 Big Sur and the M1 chip in 2020, native iOS apps have arrived on the Mac for the first time. In 2021 and with macOS 12, we should have more integration between the two operating systems.
We would also like to see that it can be backed up with iCloud Time Machine. On the other hand, we were able to witness for the first time the arrival of iOS applications like Shortcuts or Health on Mac.
watchOS 8
As for the Apple Watch, we believe that Apple will announce more functions and health applications with watchOS 8. The news could also come in the form of changes in the interface, even with the use of widgets and new spheres.
tvOS 15
Apple just released a new Apple TV, but that was a bit of a letdown. To be fair, it’s been a while and we would like the company to fix the problem with the next version of tvOS. It would suffice for tvOS 15 to make it clear what is and is not included in Apple TV +.
Subscription services
Finally, we believe that Apple could present new features regarding its subscription services. We already have Apple TV +, Apple News +, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness +, and Apple Podcasts +, but not in all countries.
WWDC could be used to showcase others like Stocks +, Mail +, Maps + and Health +.
