The sixth beta of iOS 14.5 has arrived and the public launch is imminent. This update has been characterized by the inclusion of more news since the launch of iOS 14, among which stand out the unlocking of the iPhone with Face ID and a mask. And this sixth beta adds two new features, like the change of female Siri voice, and a function to recalibrate the iPhone battery.
With these latest updates and improvements to previous features, now iOS 14.6 is expected to be the last major update to iOS 14 before the introduction of iOS 15, in WWDC21 which already has a date.
Improvements to iOS 14.5 beta 6
A function arrives to recalibrate the battery
IPhone users will now have a tool to recalibrate the device’s internal battery when it does not perform as expected. This battery recalibration tool should help users to “Correct inaccurate battery health report estimates for some users”. For some reason, this feature is only supported on the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max at this time.
The company claims that recalibration of the battery will occur during regular charge cycles and this process may take a few weeks. When the recalibration is complete, the maximum capacity percentage and the maximum performance capacity data will be updated in the “Settings” application.
Siri will not only have a female voice
As part of the current version of iOS 14.5 beta 6, Apple is making several notable changes to Siri. The company said in a statement that Siri will no longer use female voices by default starting with iOS 14.5, and you add two more voice options to choose from. The changes also apply to HomePod.
Apple says this change is part of its continued commitment to diversity:
“We are excited to introduce two new Siri voices for English speakers and the ability for Siri users to select their preferred voice when setting up their device. It’s a continuation of Apple’s long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion, and products and services designed to better reflect the diversity of the world we live in. “
The new voices use “source talent recordings which are then executed through Apple’s text-to-speech neural engine.” This allows the voices to “flow more organically” even when the phrases are generated on the fly. New voices are available in English speaking countries.
In addition, iOS 14.5 beta 6 also brings improvements to Siri voices in Ireland, Russia and Italy, upgrading them to Neural Text-to-Speech. This means that 38 voices are now using this new technology. “Siri now processes 25 billion requests on more than 500 million devices and supports 21 languages in 36 countries.”
How to update to iOS 14.5 beta 5

To install this iOS 14 update, you just need to have downloaded the developer profile and go to Settings> General> Software update, download the new update, and wait for your iPhone or iPad to restart.
