Since the brand new update of the 24-inch iMac with M1 processor several months ago, we are waiting for the renewal of its big brother. An iMac, we can call it Pro, a 27-inch which, according to rumors, will be ready for presentation next spring.
An iMac ready to mark a before and after in the range.
The current 27-inch iMac is one of the few computers, along with the Mac Pro, that has yet to make the leap to Apple’s silicon. The reason is, from what emerges from the rumors and can be deduced, that Apple wants equip these computers with processors more powerful than the current M1 Pro or M1 Max
However, we have more reasons. In Display Supply Chain Consultants, they publish that the new 27-inch iMac Pro will come with mini-LED display and with ProMotion technology. If these specifications were confirmed, we would be faced with a more than remarkable evolution compared to the current 24-inch iMac.
From the DSCC, moreover, they say that it will be in the spring of 2022 that we will see this new computer presented. An affirmation that we must take into account knowing what types of sources DSCC usually deals with in the screen manufacturers market. If those rumors hold true, the 27-inch iMac Pro will become the third Mac computer to use mini-LED technology after seeing its arrival in the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros.
An iMac that deserves the name Pro for both the power and the technology of its screen.
As if the reliability of the DSCC was not enough, Mark Gurman mentioned these iMacs in his newsletter last Sunday. He declared that “Apple Prepares To Launch Redesigned High-End iMac With Apple Silicon”. An iMac that the Bloomberg reporter had already told us about that Apple had to delay in order to focus on the launch of the 24-inch version.
The last iMac Pro we saw, and indeed the first, was born out of Apple’s need to give professionals a good working tool while finishing making the necessary fixes and launching the modular Mac Pro we know. now. After this brief passage of the iMac by the surname Pro we thought it was an exceptional situation, but new information gives us that thinks that Apple would change the strategy of
If the 27-inch iMac ended up carrying the Pro label, we’d be faced with yet another differentiation from the Mac lineup that could continue with the launch of a MacBook Air that could just be called MacBook. So we would have the MacBook, the MacBook Pro, the iMac and the iMac Pro, very much in line with the iPhone and the iPhone Pro or the iPad and the iPad Pro.
For now, we can only hope to have more information about these long awaited iMac Pros. Some iMacs that, should be contextualized, we call 27 inches, but with the change in the size of the frames, they can grow to a lot more without having to physically grow.
