When Samsung introduced its Galaxy S24 family of mobile phones in January this year, one of the big news of this new generation of smartphones was the Galaxy AI, a series of artificial intelligence functions. One of these functions was Circle to searchwhich was developed by Google and first appeared exclusively on the Galaxy S24.
But over time, the company brought Rodea to more Android phones, including, of course, the Google Pixel. Now, Google is bringing the feature to the desktop version of the Chrome browser as well.
From Android Phones to Chrome for Desktop
The research circle began at to arrive at Chrome for Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS. This version of the curious and useful feature based on artificial intelligence and Google Lens works slide the cursor what you want to search for, instead of drawing a circle on the object, as is the case in the mobile version. Additionally, in Chrome it is available through a new icon that works as a shortcut to activate the search.
The new function is already Available in beta of Chrome 127 and Chrome 128and oddly enough, it’s not called “Circle to search” or “Swipe to search”, but the official name of the feature on desktop is “Search with Google Lens”. The tool is part of the options available in the top bar of the browser.
According to Google’s official announcement on the browser’s homepage after updating to the latest beta version:
“Google Lens and Chrome makes it easier to find everything you see on your screen. “You can search within a video you’re watching, an image in a live stream, or an image on a webpage.”
Once the browser is updated to the latest beta version available, we can access the new search tool from the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of Chrome. After dragging the cursor and circling what we want to search for, Lens offers us the answer directly on the same page we are on.
For now, this feature is only available in Chrome 127 and Chrome 128 beta, but it is expected in the coming days and weeks. reach the final and stable version of the browser for all users worldwide.
