It’s now the iPad’s turn: Europe is forcing Apple to All changes to iOS and iPhone, such as alternative app stores, are now available on iPadOS and therefore, to the iPad.
You probably already know the acronym DMA (Digital Market Act) or Digital Markets Act. This new regulation launched by the European Union is responsible for the latest changes made by Apple to the iPhone. Alternative application stores, different from the official App Store, new payment methods without using the official Apple channel or possibility of Internet browsers using engines other than Safari
Apple has 6 months to make these changes before being sanctioned for non-compliance with regulations. Knowing that the path has already been paved thanks to the iPhone, we must hope that it will not cost the American company too much work to include all these modifications in iPadOS, the iPad operating system. As if that weren’t enough, all the changes already made to the iPhone are under review by the European Commission, which not very happy with the way Apple has adopted the new regulations
