In the Messages app, we store a fair amount of information. We talk about conversations that we may wish to remember, of photos or videos that we have received and in general of something that we will want to transfer from one iPhone to another, if necessary. Something that fortunately we can do very easily and for which we have several methods to achieve it according to our needs.
Being in this position, it is possible that other applications come to mind, such as Telegram or WhatsApp. Migrating information from these apps has its own mechanisms, but what about the Messages app? Well, we have some resources.
Transfer by copy or via iCloud, it’s as simple as that
The easiest way to migrate your Messages app history from an iPhone to a new one is to use a backup. A backup that can be local on our Mac or PC or in the iCloud cloud. After making an updated copy of our old iPhone, all we have to do is restore it to our new iPhone to find all the content of the Messages app as we left it.
Sometimes, however, opting for a full backup and restore, which is required to download the backup content, is too much. For these cases the cloud message sync service is the solution. A solution that, in addition, will mean that once activated, we can forget about having to transfer messages again. Let’s enable Messages in iCloud, here are the steps:
- We open the application Settings on our iPhone.
- At the top, we touch on our name.
- We entered iCloud.
- low Apps that usan iCloud we played in Show all.
- We entered Posts.
- we activate sync this iPhone.
Once done, we just follow the same steps on our new iPhone. second act, both are connected to the current to facilitate synchronization and we wait. We will see that after a while — and always depending on the number of messages we have in the Messages app — the conversations are transferred from one iPhone to another.
While we’re at it, let’s keep in mind that we can activate the synchronization of messages also on our iPad, following exactly the same steps that we have just seen, and on our Mac, through the preferences of the Messages application. Thanks to this we will have all the conversations, iMessage and SMS, synchronized. Even if we delete one of them, the change will apply to the rest of the devices.
With this resource, we won’t even have to think about transferring information from the Messages app to a new iPhone in the future. Although if we have to do it, as we have seen, we have some resources to achieve it in a few minutes.
