The Android console market is bigger than we think; The problem is that many of these devices have low print runs or can only be obtained from import stores from China.

When browsing these stores, the Anbernic name comes up often, due to the large number of different devices it has launched; and today is another.
An Android console like the Game Boy
The latest model presented by Anbernic is very familiar, in several respects. It’s called Anbernic RG35XX, and it’s clearly inspired by Nintendo’s Game Boy, which broke all the records that have been and will be in handheld consoles.
The design is similar, but not identical. For starters, the screen’s aspect ratio is wider, which affects the aspect ratio of the device itself; Also, the controls are different, with more options for buttons, which is necessary to run all kinds of games. Even so, we are faced with a clearly simplified console, both compared to models from other brands and to Anbernic itself; the company already offered a handheld Game Boy-style console, but it had analog sticks and was much more complete.
The RG35XX seems aimed at gamers who just want the bare bones, just like the original Game Boy; although in 2022 those words mean something very different. The 3.5-inch screen, for example, is based on IPS technology and while resolution won’t be its strong suit, we weren’t expecting it at this size either.
The name of the processor has not been made public, but the company has confirmed that it is based on four ARM Cortex-A9 cores and promises enough power to run “retro” games smoothly. So this is another console designed primarily to run very basic emulators or games that don’t use high quality 3D graphics.
It’s worth noting that the Anbernic RG35XX isn’t Android-based, but rather a Linux-based system, so getting apps will likely be a bit trickier. Like their “big sister”, these consoles are primarily aimed at enthusiasts who know what they are doing and who are not afraid to “get their hands dirty” by installing and modifying software.
On the other hand, the Anbernic RG35XX is one of the cheapest consoles on the market which promises acceptable performance. On the official website it is available for only 47.97 dollars, and as usual you can probably find it cheaper in Chinese stores.
