Elements of nanosheets It is designed to decorate your home both on and off. Its design and finish as if it were wood panels gives a natural and elegant touch to your room when not in use, and its animations, effects and different shades of white (warm and cold) generate an atmosphere. pleasant, to which we must add its integration with HomeKit (also Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa) with all the home automation options offered by these platforms.
Installation and configuration
This Nanoleaf Elements starter kit includes everything you need to create your first design. The power supply that can light up to 22 light panels, the controller with touch buttons that allows you to add up to 80 light panels, and the connectors to be able to join the different light panels. The panels and controller are both made of PVC, but have a finish that perfectly mimics wood on the front, with a grain that really looks great wherever you place it.
The installation process, which you can see in the header video, is really straightforward. Nanoleaf makes it easy for you and thanks to the adhesives that already include the panels, placement of the panels does not require a drill or tool. The iOS application (link) allows you to create the layout much more easily before installation, You can even see through augmented reality what it looks like on your wall before you start placing them. It is important that you spend a few minutes with the configuration of the panels in the app before proceeding to the step of placing them on the wall, this will be of great help to you and you will avoid having to remove the panels once. once they are in place.
Adding items to HomeKit is a matter of seconds, scanning the classic code that is included on a card inside the box, in the controller, and in the power supply. Once done, we need to follow the steps given by the Nanoleaf app to get our panel set up and running. Connection to our HomeKit control panel is via WiFi (2.4 GHz) in an automatic procedure in which we hardly have to wait a few seconds.
Casa and Nanoleaf, two very different applications
To get the most out of Elements, we need to use the Nanoleaf app. With it we can download dozens of drawings and animations already ready to be used with our light panels. We have no colors on these panels, but we whites ranging from 4000K to 1500K, and a light intensity of 20 lumens. If you think that this leaves little room for maneuver to create designs, you are wrong because you can get some very beautiful and very original animations and designs. We have the ability to create static, dynamic and even music responsive designs, thanks to the microphone built into the controller.
All of these designs that you create allow you to automatically create environments in the Home app so that you can activate them using all the options that HomeKit gives us: voice control or through the Home app on any Apple device. From the Nanoleaf app, we can also control the touch functions of these light panels, with which you can control the panels themselves or even perform actions on any device you have added to Home. Each panel becomes a HomeKit button, with which the functionality of Elements is multiplied
From the Home app, the functions are much more limited, only allowing to change the white tone and intensity. We have said before that by creating environments we can activate the different designs that we uploaded. And automations allow us to perform actions depending on the time of day and combined with other HomeKit devices.. We can also choose the control from the touch buttons on the controller, which allows us to change the animation, adjust the brightness, activate the Music mode to change to the beat of what is playing and what is happening. ” turn off the panels.
Editorial review
Nanoleaf completely redesigns its light panels with Elements, a concept much calmer, more natural than its classic panels, much more striking and lively. With a design that blends in perfectly with your furniture, and adaptive lighting in white tones, Nanoleaf Elements becomes an elegant decorative lighting system that creates a relaxed atmosphere, without sacrificing advanced functions like touch control, HomeKit integration or “dancing” to the beat of the music. The starter kit with 7 panels, controller and charger It is priced at $ 229.99 on Amazon. (link), with extension kits from $ 79.99.
