I have been using the Open AI chatbot since its release and I am currently paying for the Plus version, a subscription that allows me to take advantage of ChatGPT in many tasks in my daily life, both personal and professional. And after discovering that AI is perfect for creating wallpapers for my phones, I will now use it to make my own stickers.
I usually use Telegram and WhatsApp, I combine both apps for social and family contacts as well as business contacts. And I admit that I have an endless list of added stickers, those stickers that you accumulate in case one day the time comes to use them in a conversation. That never happens, of course., I have a list of dozens of stickers. However, I cherish a group of stickers, created by myself, that are usually some of the ones I send out the most.
Do you want a specific sticker? Do it with AI and cut out the sticker with WhatsApp
Since the Meta messaging app introduced the tool to create stickers, it’s been super simple convert any photo to sticker. WhatsApp cuts out the subject from the background, creates the PNG, applies a white silhouette and even lets you decorate the sticker with doodles or text. This seems to me to be one of the most important recreational improvements among all those added recently by WhatsApp.
On the one hand, I have WhatsApp itself to edit the image, but it must be done first. I usually create stickers of friends and family, even pets: just edit photos from my gallery on WhatsApp. Although it is easy to go much further, you just need to take advantage of the almost unlimited possibilities of tools like ChatGPT.
Although I do this in ChatGPT, you can create your stickers using Copilot in Bing, for example. The result is very similar
The Open AI chatbot perfectly understands the context, what the image will be used for and the style I want for the creation. It is enough to describe the command taking into account certain premises:
- Start by telling him you want a sticker for WhatsApp. This is basic, this way you will prepare ChatGPT for the work it needs to do.
- Describe clearly what you want in the image. A dog riding a scooter while wearing sunglasses, a gnome playing an electric guitar, and anything else you can think of.
- Set the style you want for the sticker. If you want the image to be realistic, with an illustrative look, inspired by The Simpsons… It’s up to you to decide. If you create the image directly from ChatGPT (or, failing that, Microsoft Copilot), you may run into copyright issues if the style is too specific.
- Important: the background of the image must be clean and white
With all the premises on the table, it’s time to write a sample order. Here is one:
I want to create a WhatsApp sticker. The image depicts a dog riding a scooter and wearing sunglasses. The style should be illustration and with some Adventure Time feel. The background must be white and as empty as possible
It’s not that I respected the white background, but the truth is that I really liked the result. And this is the first image he made of me that could have added elements or changed the order until the sticker completely changed style. Even could complete the sticker collection ask ChatGPT to reproduce the same image by putting the dog on a bike, driving a Tesla… This will be due to the possibilities.
For the rest of the process, which consists of creating the sticker from the image created by ChatGPT, simply proceed as follows:
- Download the created image to your mobile gallery.
- Open the WhatsApp app and go to one of your chats.
- Click on the Emojis face and look at the “Create” icon that appears below. This is sticker maker, click here.
- Select the ChatGPT image and you will see that WhatsApp processes it by removing the background.
- Click the submit arrow and your sticker is now created with AI and saved to the sticker editor pack.
The created stickers stay on your WhatsApp so you can send them in any conversation. Your contacts can also save and send them.
