In 2019, Apple made a major change to its iPads. They stopped using iOS, and a new system has been launched, iPadOS. Until then, the user experience was mostly comparable to a fat iPhone that couldn’t make phone calls. iPadOS has come to change that.
The idea was that the use was different, that it had its own character. Maybe it hasn’t gotten to the point yet where they’re two radically different products, but there has been a lot of progress. The question now is what will happen with iPadOS 17. Will it be able to achieve this level of independence? We see it.
When is iPadOS 17 coming out?
Barring cataclysm, Apple should present iPadOS 17 during WWDC23 in a keynote on June 5. This is the event where Apple talks about all of its major operating system updates. In any c ase, the version accessible to the general public won’t be available until fall
Will my iPad be compatible with iPadOS 17?
There are many contradictions when it comes to getting a definitive list of updatable devices. There are various sources that disagree with each other, and ultimately nothing will be official until Apple says so. Anyway, the list of devices should look like this
iPad 6, iPad 7, iPad 8, iPad 9 there iPad 10
Compatibility should be lost, according to iMoreof the following models:
- iPad 5th generation
- iPad Pro 12.9″ 1st generation (2015)
- iPad Pro 9.7″ (2016)
- iPad Pro 10.5″ (2017)
- iPad Pro 12″9 2nd Generation (2017)
What new will iPadOS 17 bring?
There aren’t many OS leaks. Apple is a very secretive company, and software doesn’t pass through as many hands as hardware, which goes all the way through the supply chain. However, yes we can get an idea that it will be a fairly continuous launch.
One of the most anticipated and discussed novelties in recent days is the possible decision to activate sideloading in Europe by the demands of the European Parliament. It seems that in principle it will not be available outside the territory, but we still do not know anything about it.
Either way, there’s still some time to go before there’s some sort of official announcement from Apple. It is possible that there will continue to be leaks, or that there will be no more, but still being a continuous release, I’m sure it brings good news that is worth it.
